NYC Development Milestones: Spring 2019

Three Alembic Community Development projects have reached significant development milestones recently.

  • We completed construction of our 168-unit project for low-income seniors at 1880 Boston Road, in the West Farms neighborhood of the Bronx. This nine-story building, developed in partnership with the Hebrew Home for the Aged and Foxy Management, stands at the intersection of Boston Road and the Cross Bronx Expressway, adjacent to the #2 and #5 New York City subway lines. A primary care clinic and an adult-day center for individuals living with cerebral palsy occupy the two bottom floors.
  • Alembic completed the final planning and land disposition reviews for our project at 146th Street and Willis Avenue, in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx. Part of the New York City Housing Authority‚Äôs NextGen program, designed to use under-utilized Housing Authority sites to create affordable housing, the project, Betances VI, will provide 101 units of affordable housing. In addition to apartments for low income families, this 15-story new-construction building will set aside 30 units for formerly homeless individuals and include approximately 8,600 square feet of commercial space.

Design for 2435 Pacific Street in Brownsville, Brooklyn.

  • We finalized schematic design for a 243-unit, 11-story affordable housing project in partnership with Love Fellowship Tabernacle in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn. The building will provide apartments affordable to individuals and families earning up to 80% AMI, as well as 74 apartments affordable to formerly homeless individuals. The project will also contain approximately 8,000 square feet of commercial space, community rooms and gardens for residents.
