Since its inception in 1992, Friendly Hands Ministry has grown into a robust network of more than 30 churches in East Harlem and the Bronx which operate soup kitchens, food pantries, affordable housing, and healthcare management, and provide services to thousands of community residents each year.
Scope of Work
Alembic Community Development helped Friendly Hands Ministry by developing Friendly Hands Apartments, a 76-unit affordable housing property on 118th Street in East Harlem.
The apartments provide housing for the elderly and for low-income families earning less than 60% of Area Median Income (AMI). In addition, Friendly Hands Ministry provides meals, recreation, education and entitlements counseling programs for seniors in the 3,700 square feet of community space on the ground floor.
