Founded in 1952, The Community League of the Heights (CLOTH) is a multi-service, community development organization dedicated to supporting and empowering the economically disadvantaged residents of Washington Heights. Throughout its 59-year history, CLOTH has been dedicated to finding solutions to the problems of poverty and disinvestment that confront the neighborhood.
Scope of Work
The Lucille Bulger Center, named in memory of CLOTH’s founder and long-time Executive Director, will be a multi-purpose community facility located at West 157th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. The Center will provide space for the Community Health Academy of the Heights (CHAH), a 6th to 12th grade New Visions Public School, as well as a primary care clinic operated by the Community Healthcare Network and CLOTH’s administrative offices. It will have capacity for 624 CHAH students, full suite of primary care examination and treatment room and administrative offices, and 2,400 square feet of office space for CLOTH.
When the Center opens on in the Fall of 2012, it will be a true community center, one that brings together community members of all ages and backgrounds to interact and address some of their most important concerns such as health, education and housing.
